The people were duped. This health scare was a scam all along and it had nothing to do with lowering health care costs. That was the selling point, that some grandma dying of cancer would be able to afford the treatments. But smooth-talking Obama has and had other things in mind when he smiled and lied to us.
The problem is, many of us already knew this health care "overhaul" was a joke, and would do the opposite of what we were told. There are too many spin-meisters out there who are purposely confusing the issue and saying everything is going to come out all right and Obamaland will prevail.
Well . . . the bill costs money. We have to pay for it.
Notice that EVERY method for saving money is almost always opposed by the American public. Raise taxes?! OMG SOCIALISM! Cut spending in Medicare? OMG He wants to kill old people!1!!
If they are legitimate medical items, those taxes will likely go away. The democrats performed a lot of budget sleight of hand to make this happen.
They aren’t really going to cut half a billion dollars from medicare. Also, you collect taxes for ten years for a six year program, what happens the next ten years. They were just desperate to get us down this evil road.
I don’t know, but since I’m an expat, that law doesn’t apply to me. On the other hand, I’m looking forward to the huge dividends to be made from overhauling the system, and hopefully then tearing it down and building a new system… and then maybe overhauling it yet again… and again.. and again!
Have not heard anything about the price of pharmaceuticals going up but there has been discussions on higher tax on those companies that are milking the medical system, the insurance companies and you / I. Some new taxes will apply to those who make over $250,000.00 a year (individual income). Overall the Health Care Law will reduce costs for most Americans and make it available at a reasonable costs for many who in the past could not afford it; they will pay more because they never had it before. You and I and all tax payers were paying for their health care.
We can not expect much without having to pay some for it. This bill is no different than any other bill. Think and put in the Added Comments section any bill or government program that gives anyone any additional benefits and at the same time reduces your costs.
The biggest problem with this law is the constant TV and Radio hype the GOP has spread over the past year trying to convince Americans the bill was no good. Far too many people have accepted what they hear rather than look at it themselves; my bet is less than 1 in 50,000 Americans have read any part of the bill. They can remember and recite what has been beat into their head by the GOP. I have not heard one comment from anyone that is not a repeat of what the GOP has paid millions and millions of dollars to get onto radio and TV.
My reaction was the same when I heard about the new taxes on medical devices. Who in the hell is making these decisions? Did they just pick who and what to tax out of a hat? What’s the reason for punishing these particular Americans? WTF???

I think it is about time. 3 to 4 million people go visit the Nations Capital
and go directly to take up temporary residence at the White House.
